The 296 GTB, an evolution of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engine two-seater sports berlinetta concept, represents a revolution for the Maranello-based company as it introduces the new 120 V6 engine coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor capable of delivering up to 830 cv. When creating the 296, Project leader Mirko Statini noted the soul of this project is the engine, further elaborating that the staggering sound emitted by the 296 is designed to mimic the high-pitched tones of a V12 engine, hence the V6 hybrid being nicknamed the 'piccolo V12'. The 8500-rpm redline provides a visceral driving experience, while four drive modes - eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify - provide ascending performance characteristics.
