1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose | Chassis 08729 A remarkable example of one of Ferraris most celebrated grand touring sports cars, this 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB combines a highly desirable late-production specification with documented enthusiast history, concours-quality restoration, and exceptional presentation. Chassis 08729 was delivered new in Italy on July 11, 1966. Built to European specifications, it features left-hand drive, metric instrumentation, a steel body, three carburetors, and the desirable long-nose design. It is one of only 88 long-nose 275 GTBs produced with this steel-body, triple-carburetor configuration. As a later-production car, it also benefits from the sought-after torque-tube driveshaft. The 275 GTB represented a significant evolution of Ferraris road-going sports car engineering. Its 3.3-liter Colombo V12, independent suspension at all four wheels, and rear-mounted transaxle provide an exceptional combination of performance, balance, and road manners. The long-nose design further refined the cars high-speed characteristics while giving the 275 GTB its unmistakable profile. Following its early years in Italy, chassis 08729 was exported to the United States in 1974 and subsequently enjoyed a long history with dedicated Ferrari enthusiasts. The car was shown at Ferrari Club of America events and other prominent venues, including an appearance at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1985. Its history reflects genuine use and appreciation as a driver's Ferrari, rather than simply a static collector car. In 2005, the car was entrusted to Bob Smith Coachworks, a respected Ferrari marque specialist, for a high-quality cosmetic restoration. It was refinished in its current Blu Metallizato over light tan leather, with numerous trim components restored. Mechanical work included rebuilding the brakes and transaxle, as well as replacement of weather stripping, hoses, belts, and fuel lines. The completed Ferrari was displayed at The Quail in 2008, where it received the Pacific Tweed Courtier Eye for Style Award. Today, this 275 GTB presents beautifully and is equally suited to concours competition, Ferrari events, or spirited long-distance rallies. It is accompanied by its owner's handbooks, tool roll/set, Borrani wire wheels, and a copy of the Ferrari build documentation. The matching-numbers engine further enhances its desirability. An exceptional opportunity to acquire a scarce long-nose 275 GTB with the ideal combination of specification, provenance, restoration, documentation, and Ferrari pedigree.
