The 2022 Ferrari SF90 Spider is a plug-in hybrid convertible supercar that represents a significant leap in performance and technology for the brand. Its essentially the open-top version of the SF90 Stradale, offering the same breathtaking performance with the added thrill of open-air driving. Powertrain: The SF90 Spider is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and three electric motors, one at the rear and two on the front axle. This combination provides a staggering total system output of 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Transmission and Drivetrain: It features an 8-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission and is a full-time all-wheel drive vehicle, with the electric motors providing power to the front wheels. Acceleration: The SF90 Spider can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.0 seconds. Top Speed: Its top speed is 211 mph (340 km/h). Hybrid System: As a plug-in hybrid, it can be driven on electric power alone for a limited range of about 8 miles. This allows for silent cruising at speeds up to 84 mph. Retractable Hard Top (RHT): The convertible roof is a compact, lightweight retractable hard top that can be opened or closed in just 14 seconds. Performance-Focused Architecture: The SF90 Spider is built with a focus on delivering ultimate performance. Its hybrid system and all-wheel drive capabilities, along with advanced electronics like the eSSC (electronic Side Slip Control), provide exceptional grip and handling. Assetto Fiorano Package: For even more track-focused performance, an optional Assetto Fiorano package is available. This includes multimatic shock absorbers derived from GT racing, a lightweight titanium exhaust, and a wider use of carbon fiber, which shaves off 21 kg (about 46 lbs) of weight. Interior and Infotainment: The interior features a fully digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. The controls are largely touch-sensitive, which, while futuristic, has been noted by some reviewers as taking time to get used to. Design: While sharing much of its design with the SF90 Stradale, the Spiders retractable hard top, distinct buttresses, and revised decklid give it a unique appearance. It still retains the glass engine cover, with added louvers for cooling.
